What Causes Hair Loss in Men and Women?

This new class of hair transplants uses a precision method to harvest clusters of hair from your scalp, minimizing recovery time and eliminating scarring. Traditional hair grafts use a method called follicular unit transplantation, or FUT, that removes a strip of skin and hair before harvesting follicle clusters. This approach requires sutures to seal the area where the strip was removed, resulting in a lengthier recovery while the sutures heal as well as a scar that is visible if hair is worn short.
By contrast, FUE options like SmartGraft™ involve a special tool that creates small holes around individual hair follicle units and uses suction to extract them. The tiny punctures heal quickly without the need for stitches. Once healed, they blend in with the other hair and skin of your scalp so they are not visible even with very short haircuts.

Is the SmartGraft™ procedure painful?
Nope! It’s a one-day, in-office, outpatient procedure — not a complicated surgery. All we need to use is a local anesthetic, and you will be able to return home comfortably the same day as your treatment.
How long does a SmartGraft™ treatment take?
You should plan on taking a full day for your procedure, but your timing will depend on how many grafts you are receiving. Your time in treatment can range from four to eight hours or more.
What is the recovery period like?
This procedure heals quickly and is not painful. You will not need prescription pain medications or special wound care. Patients can return to work in a couple of days — usually as soon as they feel comfortable with their appearance — with very few activity restrictions after the procedure.
What kind of results can I expect?
